Ski and Snowboard

Ski Deer Valley 23-25th

Following the wedding, Kate & Alex are going to ski at Deer Valley Resort. Deer Valley is only 40 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake and features some of the world’s best skiing. We will be there the 23rd-25th and would love for you to join us for any or all of that time. Staying at the resorts themselves can be expensive, so we highly recommend looking for a vacation rental by owner vrbo (especially if traveling with friends). We have created a google group called welikesnow to help folks who are interested in sharing a vrbo find one another and coordinate. If a vacation rental just isn’t your style, we recommend the New Park Hotel in nearby Kimball Junction. It’s a quick 15 minute drive or 30 minute bus ride away from Deer Valley and more affordable than the resort hotels. Questions? Just ask Alex!

Other Things To Do

  1. Utah Olympic Oval
Want to go ice skating where the 2002 Winter Olympians competed? Here’s your chance.
  2. Alpine Coaster

You’ll enjoy the beautiful Wasatch mountain scenery as the automated lift system whisks you to the top of the track. Then, hold on tight as you go whizzing down the mountain on nearly 4,000 feet of curves, bends and loops.
  3. Natural History Museum of Utah
Utah is full of fossils… and our museum is not bad either! Adults and kids of all ages will love the brand new and architecturally stunning museum. It has a three-story indoor canyon, dinosaurs and animal fossils found in Utah, a walk-in recreation of a 19th century Park City mine, and much more. Kids can check out live insects, get their hands wet in the indoor pond play area, and burn off energy in the underground crawl space. Alex is a huge fan of the dinosaur and giant ground sloth fossilized skeletons.
  4. This is the Place Heritage Park
Step back in time and explore a re-created pioneer-style village, pan for gold, watch a blacksmith at work, and ride a vintage fire engine.
  5. Main Library
The most beautiful library ever made. Period.
It’s also a great place for the kiddos! It has an impressive collection of children’s books and two special reading areas tucked under the reflecting pool – Grandmother’s Attic and Crystal Cave (Kate is convinced it’s actually Superman’s Fortress of Solitude). There is a real beehive, Large Craft and Story rooms, and an alcove of computers for young gamers.
  6. Discovery Gateway
    An interactive, hands-on children’s museum.
  7. Clarke Planetarium
Is our wedding not spacey enough for ya? Check out the planetarium.
  8. Ride a Real Bobsled
This one is all you, if you dare.
